rarest of all the impact types is Moldavite.
This beautiful green mineral comes predominantly from the Czech Republic. It was probably formed by the impact of the large cometary nucleus that excavated the Ries Crater in Germany between 15 and 20 million years ago, and, in common with the golden Libyan Desert Glass, has been highly prized since antiquity. Moldavite - genuine Moldavite - is very, very hard to find these days: what is available is incredibly expensive! We have a few examples, mounted by Linda in .925 Sterling silver.
